Château Margüi

Address: Quartier Margüi, 83670 Chateauvert
Tel: 06 10 26 56 25  Fax: 04 94 77 30 34
Geo-coordinates:  Latitude: 43:30:35N (43.50968)    Longitude: 6:2:22E (6.03943)

Situated in the valley of the river Argens, just to the south of the Massif du Bessillon, this terroir is fractionally warmer than that at Alysses.. This old estate was abandoned until it was bought by Marie-Christine and Philippe Guillanton and their young family in 2000. They set about replanting the vineyard and made their first vintage in 2004. With a range of only three wines, all within the Coteaux Varois AC, the white is a blend of Rolle and the more acidic Ugni Blanc, the rosé  from the Provencal stalwarts of Grenache and Cinsault and the red a high percentage of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The long track up to their estate is rough and a 4x4 or car with high suspension is recommended! The beautiful old house and restored garden gives a vision of a Provencal idyll far removed from the modern pink villa and blue swimming pool.
