The Wine Region of Rhône ValleySelect a guide from the list below. |
For everyone who loves red wines made from the Syrah grape, a visit to the northern Rhône is a must. From vineyards on near vertiginous slopes, some of the finest Syrah wines are produced, as well as original whites from Viognier. Moving south, after a gap where no vines can be seen (but perhaps indulging in a sampling of nougat around Montélimar), the Southern Rhône is the gateway to sunshine and the Mediterranean. Here the finest reds and whites of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and beyond, are made from blends of grape varieties, with vines seeming to sprout directly out of the pebbly soil. A land of contrasts, you will find plenty to explore and discover, whether you spend a few days or just a weekend - most areas are reached easily from Lyon or Marseille. We have two micro-region Guides for the northern Rhône and three for the southern Rhône, each offering a range of exciting possibilities. |
