This is the most important wine festival for Côte Rôtie and takes place over four days around the 3rd weekend in January. All the main producers of Côte Rôtie take part and it provides an excellent opportunity to taste and compare different growers’ wines. I strongly recommend that you attend on the first evening which is marginally quieter than the other days which can get very busy.

There are small wine fairs each year at Condrieu (celebrating both the wine and the local Rigotte goats’ cheese) on 1 May, at Malleval at the end of April, and at Chavanay over the 2nd weekend of December.
Top international Jazz festival, held every year in summer lasting about two weeks from the end of June to mid July. World class jazz, rhythm and blues acts perform in the atmospheric Théâtre Antique de Vienne, a Roman amphitheatre, which can seat about 7000 people. Make sure you take something comfortable to sit on the old stone steps of the amphitheatre.
