At last Tain has a decent restaurant again. This restaurant is on the site of the late lamented Rive Gauche. It has been opened by Michel Chabran as an up-market bistro. The situation is magnificent, overlooking the river right alongside the footbridge. There is a terrace as well as the modern restaurant with panoramic windows. The food is excellent and Michel is sometimes present himself. There is a menu with modern bistro dishes and the cooking is far better than most local restaurants. The wine list is short, reasonably priced and focussed entirely on good local growers with a few trophy bottles such as Chave Hermitage 1983 at well below UK retail price.

Useful information: Menu €29. Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. They had not decided on annual closure when I visited, so best to telephone and check.
