This restaurant based right among the Hermitage vines on the Gambert de Loche estate was opened in 2009. It is run by Rika and Frédéric Bau (he is French and she is Japanese) and the menu is best described as French with Japanese flavours and influence. It is already very popular and booking is essential. They also run dinners in conjunction with tastings at the visitor centre on the estate. The restaurant is in a beautiful converted farm building and has a terrace right among the vines. Excellent wine list with a wide range of top growers as well as the wines from the Tain cooperative (see ‘Wine Producers’).

Useful information: Menus: €23.50 (express lunch with a glass of wine); dinner menus from €38 with several options including wines with each course. Open Tuesday – Friday for lunch and dinner and Saturday evenings only.
