The third and least known of the three big négociants (with Jaboulet and Chapoutier) is at last making good wine. They have two Hermitages: the regular Marquis de la Tourette which is delicious as an earlier drinking wine – the 2001 is drinking beautifully; and the Les Bessards entirely from the top Hermiatge vineyard, which is one of the best examples. Other northern Rhône wines are also good, including Cornas and the better cuvées of Saint Joseph. As they are less well known than the other big two négociants their prices are significantly lower for wines of the same quality. As well as the current range, the tasting room also has some more mature wines available for tasting and purchase. To find them you leave Tournon heading north and follow signs to Saint-Jean de Mouzols. The tasting room and shop is just past the main building on the right.
Useful information: The tasting room and shop is open without appointment Monday - Saturday 09.30 - 12.00 and 14.30 - 18.30. English is spoken.
