A Jaboulet estate created following the takeover of Paul Jaboulet Aîné, when Vincent Jaboulet and his son Philippe purchased what was Domaine Collonge. In addition, they have taken with them 11ha of Crozes-Hermitage vineyards (previously part of Thalabert) plus small vineyards in Hermitage and Cornas. The first vintage of these was 2006 and this is now available. The white Hermitage is particularly interesting as it is 100% Roussanne. They also have two cuvees of Crozes-Hermitage made by them from Collonge fruit. The better of these (labelled Philippe and Vincent Jaboulet) is superior to anything I have previously tasted from Collonge and shows what a difference winemaking and selection can make. The domaine is well geared up to visitors and no appointments are necessary. However it would be worth telephoning if you want to meet Vincent Jaboulet who speaks excellent English. It is well signposted from both the N7 and D532.
