Domaine Gonon are not geared up for casual callers but are friendly and welcoming to those who are really interested and intend buying some wine. The Gonon brothers Pierre and Jean are now probably the best producers of Saint Joseph. They produce just one red and one white Saint Joseph and both are delicious food wines. They are not flashy but beautifully balanced wines which take a little time to come around. The vines are in the three best locations within Saint Joseph at Mauves, Tournon and Saint-Jean-de Muzols. The latter include recent acquisitions from Raymond Trollat who is sadly now in retirement.
