The Wine Region of Savoie
Select a guide from the list below.
Known mainly to skiers, Savoie vineyards are worth discovering with increasing numbers of wine producers making really interesting, quality wines and a selection of restaurants that promise much more than cheese fondue on the menu. The vineyards are surrounded by the most spectacular mountain scenery and close to some gorgeous Alpine lakes, making it a wonderful area to enjoy an active holiday, combined with wine touring.
The owner of Wine Travel Guides and writer of the Jura and Savoie Guides, Wink Lorch has a home in the French Alps and has known Savoie wines and vineyards for many years. The Guide to the main vineyard areas which are around Chambéry and Aix-les-Bains is on line now. A second Guide to the vineyards closer to Annecy and Geneva is in the pipeline.
