To enjoy a simple alpine experience and a breathtaking mountain view you might want to stay in this basic, 2-star Logis de France mountain hotel situated just over the border in the department of Isère, high above the vineyards of Apremont and Abymes. It would be a perfect location to combine an active walking/cycling holiday with some wine visits. The bedrooms are quite small, simple and partly pine clad with small bathrooms. The large dining room serves Savoyard (especially cheese) dishes as well as standard French fare, and the wine list has an interesting selection of local wines, including several from organic producers. When I was last there this included wines from Gilles Berlioz, which are worth paying the extra for. The hotel caters for large groups. There is an outdoor swimming pool.
Useful information: Rooms €62 including breakfast. Menus: €15 (lunch)-€31. Half board and weekly packages available. Hotel and restaurant closed Sundays. Restaurant may be closed Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Some weekly closures out of peak winter/summer seasons.
