There are no significant wine festivals in Savoie, though some years certain villages will have a fête du vin. Sometimes there are 'Open House' weekends for participating farms, which will include certain vignerons.
On the other hand, there are regular fêtes throughout the summer in the Alpine villages including cow or sheep/goat festivals - check tourist offices for details.
The village of Chignin organised its first Balade Gourmand on the last Sunday in July 2008; Apremont in 2009 and then Chignin in 2010 followed suit. Hopefully this pleasant family event is going to continue, taking place in a different village each year. The idea is simply to take a relatively gentle walk (of around 6km) through the vineyard areas with stops on the way to sample enough food and wine to make up a meal – with a course at each stop.
