There are no significant wine festivals in Savoie, though some years certain villages will have a fête du vin. Sometimes there are 'Open House' weekends for participating farms, which will include certain vignerons.
On the other hand, there are regular fêtes throughout the summer in the Alpine villages including cow or sheep/goat festivals - check tourist offices for details.
The village of Chignin organised its first Balade Gourmand in July 2008; this pleasant family event has continued since, taking place usually on the third Sunday in July in a different village each year. The idea is for a relatively gentle walk (of around 6-9km) through the vineyard areas with stops on the way to sample enough food and wine to make up a meal – with one course at each stop. The food is generally prepared by the team of a local Michelin-starred chef.
