Patrice and Jean-François, sons of Edmond who died in 2010, have done great things with this domaine and are both excellent people to taste with. Patrice is the mayor of the village and also involved with the local chamber of agriculture, so he is a busy man. Winemaking here is modern and the cellars impress by their cleanliness – some barrel ageing is done on occasions, but most of the wines are kept only in tank. The whole range is very consistent, with the excellent Marestel being a ripe fruity style and an old-vine Gamay that is worth a taste. Do check out the view from the car park over to the slope of Marestel before you leave – or if you don’t make it there, take a look at the aerial photos available on their website. Patrice and his wife also run chambres d’hôtes from their house just up the road, also with a great view.
Useful information: Open 08.00-12.00 and 14.00-18.00. Make an appointment for group visits or to be sure of meeting Patrice or Jean-François.
