Louis and Béatrice Magnin have only a small domaine, but with some of the best vineyard sites in Montmélian (for Chignin Bergeron) and in Arbin including a plot of over 100 year old Mondeuse vines planted by Louis’ grandfather. The Magnins have been known for the high quality of their Mondeuse for 20+ years: today they make four cuvées, the basic Arbin, Vieilles Vignes, La Brova (aged in fairly new oak barrels) and Le Rouge (aged in large foudres). There are also two excellent Chignin Bergerons, including the amusingly-named (to English-speakers) Grand Orgue, and an oaked Roussette de Savoie. In some years, experimental wines are made in small quantities such as a late harvest wine. The functional tasting room is beneath their house at the bottom of Arbin village near the railway.
