Paul Strang

Paul Strang has lived in South West France for 45 years. His first book on the local wines was published in 1994 (Wines of South-West France) and later appeared in French. An entirely new book with 70 photos - The Wines and Winemakers of South-West France - comes in a co-edition between French and American publishers (2009) and has received the prestigious 'Best Wine Atlas/Tourism Book in the World' recognition at the Gourmand World Cookbook awards. Dubbed by a colleague as "the man who knows every centimetre of the South-West", Paul contributes regularly to Wine & Spirit and to Decanter magazines, as well as to Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book. He also writes on South West France for Oz Clarke's Pocket Wine Book, and on France for Larousse Des Vins. Paul is also the widely-acclaimed author (2002) of Languedoc-Rousillon: The Wines and Winemakers. His wife Jeanne is author of the classic cookbook of the area, Goose Fat and Garlic: Country Recipes from South-West France.
