Jean-Marc’s daughter Aurélie now has a vineyard of her own on some of the best terroir in Gaillac. Chateau L’Enclos des Roses (the vineyard rather than the château itself) was formerly part of the famous Jean Cros estate. Aurélie is now making top-notch wines in all three colours from the local grapes: Mauzac for the white, Braucol and Duras for the reds and rosés.
Useful information: Open Monday - Saturday 09.00-12.00 and 15.00-19.00; appointments through Domaine d’Escausses essential; you can also try ringing Denis Balaran on 06 18 57 93 53. Not much English spoken; small groups in the cave by arrangement.
