Originally Mormoraia was a convent but it has now been converted into an elegant farmhouse situated in a beautiful position with a view to San Gimignano’s medieval towers. A great base for touring vineyards and the sights you can also relax by the pool or in the shade of one of the large pine trees in the spacious grounds. The four recently renovated ground-floor rooms and eight apartments are both well-equipped and charming. This is also a working winery producing excellent Vernaccia and some good reds made from Sangiovese and Merlot. It is possible to visit the winery and of course sample the wines and their own local olive oil production.
Useful information: Rooms: €90-€120 including breakfast. Closed November - February.
