The owners of Il Vescovino are a young couple: he is Italian and she is Dutch. One of the best things about this restaurant is the outside patio with a fantastic view over the vineyards of Panzano, especially in summer for al fresco eating under the shade of the trees. Il Vescovino specialises in typical Tuscan fare, including the prized bistecca Fiorentina, which is bred locally and grilled over charcoal embers. Starters include mixed antipasto of various cold cuts and hearty penne with sausage and truffle. For the main course, try a part from the T bone steak (bistecca Fiorentina) which is mega-size and grilled over the open fire, or ‘collo di pollo’ - a delicious stuffed chicken neck, full of flavour, sliced and presented appealingly on the plate with green beans and fried potatoes is top notch and a more unusual dish to try. Good local Tuscan wine list.
Useful information: Average price without wine is €40/€50 for three courses. Closed Tuesday.
