Fattori di Cusona with its 525ha of land is one of the oldest historic estates of San Gimignano dating back to the year 994. For centuries it has been the property of the Guiciardini Strozzi family – a noble family who built their wealth on banking and political power as statesmen; it was also one of Tony Blair’s favourite holiday escapes. It is an interesting estate to visit especially from a historic point of view and the vaulted cellars. My favourite wine here is Cusona 1933 Vernaccia Di San Gimignano and you will also find some good Chianti Colli Senesi under the label Titolato. Also of interest is the Spumante, sparkling wine produced from Vernaccia and one of the only sparkling wines of Vernaccia. They also produce Vernaccia Riserva and a Super Tuscan Sòdole.

Useful information: Open for visits Monday-Friday 09.30-12.30 and 15.00-17.30 . Cost for visit and tasting: €18. English, French, German spoken. Groups accepted up to 35 people.
