Il Giglio hotel is located right in the centre of the historic town of Montalcino, offering great views over the surrounding hills and vineyards. It is run by Mario and Anna, who does all the cooking which is superb, so it is well-worth eating in the hotel as you will get the best ‘bistecca Fiorentina’ here as well as a great assortment of local delicacies. The rooms have been beautifully restored and though some are on the small side they have plenty of character and all the comforts you will need, including air conditioning. Nearby Dependance Anna has less expensive rooms.

Useful information: Rooms: €128-€140 including excellent home baked breakfast. Dependance Anna: €95 including breakfast. Closed 7-31 January.
