This is your quintessential osteria right in the heart of Montepulciano, just off Piazza Grande. You will never be disappointed by the local fare here, which is overseen by owner Giulio Ciolfi, who is the heart and soul of the place. Be prepared to share your table with others – this is normal practice here – but I assure you that you will have a great time. It has a special convivial atmosphere – no frills, just genuine, good food. All dishes are prepared according to their traditional recipes. These include the excellent tagliolini al tartufo bianco di Montepulciano (an extravagant autumn dish of pasta with local white truffles), porcini mushroom soup, pici al ragù d'ocio ( hand rolled Spaghetti with duck sauce), roasted meat on the open grill and of course the Fiorentina steak; and if you like liver, try the fegatelli alle braci ( pig, veal, or chicken livers roasted over the grill barbeque style). There is not a great wine list, but the house wine is quite drinkable!
