Well located right in the centre of Montalcino, L’Assedio is a small restaurant with stone walls and wooden beams, yet with a sober linear décor. It is run by Italo-Argentinean owner and chef Patricia, and you can sample local fare as well as some unusual creative dishes – home-made pasta, wild boar stews, grilled meats with grilled vegetables and mushrooms when in season – Tuscan food, but with a touch of Argentinean flair. The wine list is ample, listing about 200 local Montalcino wines, and also a wide choice of 2,000 wines from the centre and south of Italy.

Useful information: Average cost of a meal without wine: €40. Closed Tuesdays.
