Federico Carletti’s leading Vino Nobile estate, with 120ha of vines a few kilometres northeast of Montepulciano at Gracciano, is Poliziano. The production, overseen by Italy’s most sought-after winemaker, Carlo Ferrini, focuses on polished, modern Nobile, planted to high-density, select Sangiovese, aged in barrique. Carletti is a passionate winemaker, who has always made his own mind up regarding production and without being unduly influenced by market trends. Top labels include single-vineyard Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Asinone, characterized by a vibrant, aromatic profile, firm, full-bodied, with a good structure and a smooth, long finish. Le Stanze del Poliziano (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese), international in style, shows elegance and depth with balsamic character.

Useful information: Open for visits and tastings by appointment only Monday to Friday, 8.30-12.30 and 14.30-18.00. The cost of a tasting for 3 wines is €10 per person or 4 wines €12. Languages spoken: English and German.
