The Museum of wine in Montalcino was founded by the Barbi estate (see 'Wine Producers') and portrays the life of the country folk of the area, their implements and the farmers’ lives of the past centuries.  It also houses quite a large collection of historic bottles with the history of wines and labels and producers from Montalcino.  Set in over 1,500 sqare metres you can explore the lives of the country folk though a series of photographs, video and documents which provide living proof to the struggle and hardship these people lived through until the recent more affluent wealth brought with the boom and fame of Montalcino’s Brunello wines.
