Domaine Zind-Humbrecht

Address: 4 Route de Colmar, 68230 Turckheim
Tel: 03 89 27 02 05
Geo-coordinates:  Latitude: 48:5:6N (48.08512)    Longitude: 7:16:56E (7.28219)

So massive is the reputation of Zind-Humbrecht that it’s difficult to imagine that the domaine was created only in 1959 when Léonard Humbrecht married Geneviève Zind and the vineyards of the two families were amalgamated. Since then the holding has steadily increased to its present 40ha, spread out from Turckheim to Thann (see 'Suggested Walks' below for the Rangen vineyard), and gained an extraordinary reputation for its rich, full-bodied, terroir-driven wines. The latest development is conversion to organic and biodynamic status. Olivier Humbrecht, the first French MW, and his Scottish wife Margaret are increasingly to the fore, whether at the domaine’s eye-catching modern offices and tasting rooms in the midst of the Herrenweg vineyard or abroad on frequent missions to promote the beauty and finesse of Alsace wines (over 80% of their wines are exported).

Useful information: If the domaine is closed for tasting, visitors are referred to the excellent La Sommelière wine shop in Colmar (see ‘Wine Shops’). English spoken.
