Fine crayères, tour lasts one hour and commences with a high quality, very informative video. It is not for nothing that Taittinger’s consistently superb prestige cuvée is called Comtes de Champagne, as this firm owns the Demeure des Comtes, the residence of the Counts of Champagne, at 18-22 Rue de Tambour in Reims. This restored 13th century building was originally the home of one of the counts, Thibaud IV. Fine range of Champagnes with Chardonnay dominant in most.
Useful information: Open Monday - Saturday with tours starting 09.30-11.50 and 14.00-16.20 from mid-March to end-November. Same hours for the rest of the year, but closed Sundays and public holidays. No appointment necessary, English spoken, tasting available (all for a small fee).
