Le Logge is the showpiece of Brunello producer Gianni Brunelli who only passed away in November 2008. It is considered one of Siena’s best trattorias just off the main square and is highly prized by locals as well as visitors both for its good food and friendly atmosphere. Special dishes include taglierini al tartufo, malfatti all'Osteria (spinach-and-ricotta balls in a creamy tomato sauce) and ravioli ripieni di pecorino e menta (ravioli stuffed with sheeps’ milk cheese and mint in a sauce flavored with port). Meatier dishes include traditional bistecca di vitello (tender veal steaks) or delicate carpaccio di pesce spada affumicato (smoked swordfish sliced and pounded into thin disks). There is an excellent wine list. Reservations recommended.
Useful information: Tasting menu: €45. Closed on Sundays and from Jan 7-Feb 1.
